Known as a tourist town full of family-fun and an exciting night-life for its younger visitors, Ocean City has many of hot spots and attractions for those over the age of 55. We’ve highlighted a few of our favorite things, but it’s impossible to name them all.
With happy hours Mon-Fri from 1-6pm, and happy hour pricing all day on Sundays, Elks Lodge on 138th St. has a full functioning bar, restaurant and banquet hall. The second floor Banquet Hall seats up to 180 people. With a fully functioning kitchen, bar and built-in PA system, the newly renovated hall is great for receptions, parties, and meetings. They also feature live music and other entertainment events throughout the week!
Surf Fishing Off Season
In order to surf fish at most places in town, you will need a Maryland Fishing License, but you can fish off the Ocean City fishing pier without a license.
Half Price Burgers
Head to Whiskers Pub for half price burgers on Thursdays during certain months of the year!
Visit the Ocean City Life Saving Station at the Boardwalk to learn about the town’s history and take a tour of the station.
Sundays in the Park
Every Sunday from July to Labor Day, Northside Park, one of Ocean City’s largest park facilities, fills with live music from local and tribute bands, ice cream sundaes and entertainment for all ages. Check for live music at various locations throughout town, there’s everything from country to reggae to jazz to rock year-round!
Bike
Hop on your bike and ride up and down Coastal Highway, along the boardwalk, in and out of neighborhoods and explore parts of town you’ve never seen. If you don’t have your own set of wheels, rent a bike from one of many shops like Bike World.
Sand Castle Home Tour
Get your tickets now for the 14th Annual self-guided driving tour, featuring ten homes in the area. See unique oceanfront and bayside homes, penthouses and more. At $30/person, all proceeds benefit the Art League of Ocean City.
Every Monday from May to mid-October, locals, and tourists swarm to the deck at Fager's Island for food, drinks and dancing with live bands and DJs while the sun is up!
People Watch
Head to the boardwalk for some Thrasher’s French Fries or Fisher’s Popcorn, sit back on a bench and enjoy the view as people from all over stroll the boards. You never know what you may see!
Take advantage of all of the events and deals Ocean City offer to the older crowd. If you’re over the age of 60, purchase a senior citizen bus pass that’s good for two years!
