West Ocean City Injury & Illness Center

The providers here are pretty good from all the different ones I have gotten to interact with over the years, however their front desk staff is beyond rude it is finally enough for me to use other urgent cares. I always recommend this place to family and friends but will no longer do so. I was embarrassed over insurance talk so that other patients could hear, and forced into paying when nothing was actually owed (had they just contacted my insurance or took the time to read the policy correctly). I was bent over holding a 30 pound toddler and a backpack and trying to zip everything up, tossed my card over the desk and said “I just need to leave and pick up the medicines” as we had already been there long enough. She said I rudely threw my card at the attendant (would love to see video footage of my throwing it). I ended up doing a three way call with my insurance because I was so worked up and they found that in turn I did not owe anything even though I was just forced to pay $60 AFTER being seen and not told
Beforehand. The insurance rep also commented on how rude the receptionist was and how I should find another place to service my friends and family so planning on doing just that! I suggest your docs in up the road on venturing into town and using AGHs urgent care because this is no longer “the place where locals go” as they claim since they just lost an entire family of them!

*edit they did call and decide to refund my card even though I was informed it goes against their policy and I would have normally received the check in the mail. No apology or anything! After talking to multiple people about the terrible treatment I have found that most people do not use this urgent care strictly because of the staff (one person in particular) at the front! I thought it was just me and her having an awful morning so it’s unfortunate that other people have had to deal with her!

I took my aged mother to this facility and we were very impressed. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. They listened to my mother and responded to all of her questions with patience and understanding. They were very thorough, performing numerous tests and x-rays. We extend the staff, especially Cynthia, Will and Maggie, our sincere appreciation.

Just an update…my mother and I have utilized this facility three times so far this summer and I have been impressed with each visit. Again, we were placed in the capable hands of Cynthia. However, everyone was equally kind, It is unusual to find people these days who are wonderful and treat you so well, especially the elderly. I can speak from experience in this matter, as last year I had taken my mother to another facility in Ocean City and when they saw mom was on Medicare we were charged $200 upfront before she was permitted to even have any medical attention. Then, the provider only did a cursory look at her issue, was dismissive of her complaints and recommended she return home for follow up with her family physician.
Keep up the good work and I hope people recognize what a great job you’re doing. Thank you.

I had a really great experience here as a walk-in patient on a Sunday morning in the height of summer (high season in Ocean City). I was attended to very quickly and staff were friendly, professional, and efficient. They checked my insurance coverage and informed me ahead of time of anticipated out of pocket costs. The entire process from when I walked in and walked out was approximately 20-30 mins, and they were able to send my prescriptions to a pharmacy across the street. So easy they exceeded expectations. I highly recommend.
