Standard check is 4pm. We tried to check in early at 2:00. "Your room is not ready". Hey, if you don't shoot your shot you never know right? We were told "come back at 3:00, your room will be ready then." Hey, no problem. We will go check out the boardwalk, a couple shops, be able to slip into the room a little early, no big deal. Show back up at 3:30. "Your room is not ready, check in is at 4pm" this was said in a very unprofessional tone and manor for someone acting as the first point of contact for a business. I smiled and said ok, thank you, I will be back at 4pm and went about to do some more exploring. I showed up at exactly 4:01pm (noticing all staff leaving were wearing matching custodial uniforms). Approach the front desk "high, it is now after 4pm. I would like to check into my room now". Even worse mannerisms than before "your room is not ready" (as the other woman at the desk is checking in another family). My reply: "this is now the 3rd attempt to check into a room I had reserved in advance and paid in full for, if I am unable to check into my room I would like to speak to a member of management and your corporate phone number."
So after this goes on for another 20 minutes we are finally able to enter the room. It's nice, comfortable, the cleanliness is better than several other local ocean front hotels. Their drink services are very reasonably priced. There is a cooking service and a mini fridge which is perfect with supplied (single pot and pan). The view is pleasant with the ocean view. The walls are paper thin. I can hear the water from toilets flushing around us.
Beggars can't be choosers when you book a room like this, in a location like this. Customer service can make or break a visit and they failed miserably in that depart.

Stayed at the Tidelands last year and didn’t have the best experience. We got an efficiency room with 2 beds. We checked in, went to our room, walked in and we noticed the bathroom door was open with the lights on. There were dirty towels on the floor, didn’t look like the bath tub was cleaned, and there was poop in the toilet (toilet wasn’t flushed). The beds were made so I would assume someone came in to clean and didn’t finish. Called the front desk to complain and room service came right up. We left to go out on the boardwalk and didn’t stay while they finished cleaning. Thinking about it after vacation was the room really cleaned, were the sheets changed, did they clean the bath tub and floor? A week later I noticed a spot on my leg and it turned out to be ring worm. Never in my life have I ever gotten ring worm or any kind of fungal skin infection. More than likely I got it from the hotel room. 🤷♂️ I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Biggest compliant: Parking! You get 1 spot. Even if you rent a suite that sleeps 6 people, you still just get 1 parking spot. You have to find free parking on the street for your other vehicle. Which was nearly impossible at 9pm on a Friday night. The location was perfect. The room was in good shape, clean. Sliding door to balcony was a little hard to maneuver.
