The Starboard Restaurant is Dewey’s most famous venue for fun, great times, and tremendous service! It has been home-awayfrom-home for most Dewey Beach visitors over our 55+ year history.

The Starboard truly holds a special place in more people’s hearts than anyone could ever imagine! The Starboard was originally built and opened by Duke Duggan around 1960 and has gone through several changes over its years. Purchased and run by the Hearn family during the late 80’s and early 90’s, Chip Hearn grew The Starboard into a nationally known hot spot. Purchased by current owners Steve ‘Monty’ Montgomery and his partners in 1999, The Starboard’s popularity is now off the charts as it has grown into a national phenomenon!

From famous Suicide Sundays to Eggs Delmarva and wonderful breakfasts and nightly entertainment – both on stage and with long-time DJ personalities – you will always find a crowd of people enjoying themselves at The Starboard.

The streets of Dewey Beach seemed empty this morning and now I know why … everyone was at The Starboard. In one word, it was “amazing” according to the most critical member of our group. Had to wait about 30 minutes but it was worth it.

We came to Starboard on opening weekend in anticipation of St. Patrick’s day festivities. Upon arriving the crowd of bar attendees was mostly lackluster, but their bouncer Todd was able to bring our night back to life. His charming personality, chivalry, and unbeatable service was the highlight of our evening. If only to see Todd, we will continue to attend this establishment in the future. Todd, you are an absolute legend. Keep up the good work!

Went here with a couple girl friends lastnight mind you never have been to Dewey for night life so we had high hope. Now they had a crowd so the music should’ve been on point….. Nope. Here and there good songs but went up to the DJ playing, kindly came up said excuse me, are you taking requests tonight? One he just put his hand up to me without even looking at me or acknowledging. I stand there then he turns annoyed and says maybe… I’m like okay? Well gave him my request he’s like ok. Kept playing his playlist ok. Maybe 7 songs later my friends like what happened? I’m like idk so they went up again to kindly ask about the request. Then he starts playing a song from them that was NOT the requested lol with that being said your DJ can make or break your night. We made the best out of it. But idk in my opinion if your a DJ Interact with your crowd and most of all be kind. The world is already ugly enough. When going out you wanna have a good time. Not get a sour patch.
