Since 1993 The Cultured Pearl has been responsible for bringing the art of sushi into the lives of hundreds of thousands. Susan Townley Wood, the designer and proprietor, has created an atmosphere that is unique in the restaurant industry. From the Pearl's long-term staff to its loyal customer base the energy and passion Susan brings is evident in us all. Part of her secret is to always keep them guessing. What will the new construction bring? What new delicious dishes are on the next menu release? The excitement builds with each new project completed! With what we believe is the strongest kitchen in the area the food will never disappoint. Created and prepared by Susan's husband Robert along with many of the Eastern Shore's top chefs. Susan's design and decorating is sure to please. Always keeping in mind, and respecting, traditional Japanese architecture Susan has created an environment full with bamboo, flowing water, Koi and live birds. The Pearl boasts a 15,000 gallon rooftop "lake" that is home to many aquatic species and hosts diners nightly in the raised gazebos. Her desire for the best has shown itself in our magnificently crafted sushi bar and drinking bar tops. Made from a single black walnut tree the two bars together measure nearly 50 feet.

Staying true to their own family needs, Susan and Robert have created a Family Dining environment which allows parents to bring their children into a fine dining restaurant without feeling unwelcome. Chef Robert has also designed a Children's Menu based on his own daughters' likes. Teriyaki, Tempura and Sushi alongside ever changing other kid friendly treats that make for a well received and nutritious meal for the next generation of Pearl devotees.

Came here for a date night. Staff were all very friendly & accommodating. Our server, Garrett, was great. We got the Sushi Combo (mix of nigiri & spicy tuna roll), the Rehoboth roll & the Cultured Pearl roll. Fish quality on the nigiri were as it should be, though nothing too special. The rolls we tried were all very good though! An aesthetic, unique & popular spot with koi ponds surrounding the tables both inside and outside. A line quickly formed behind us around 7pm, so would recommend getting a reservation ahead of time.

The best chicken bibimbap I’ve ever had ! It’s served in a hot stone, with amazing flavor & freshness. The atmosphere is great, beautiful decor. The bartender was awesome, very welcoming and overall great service. I’d definitely recommend The Cultured Pearl while you’re in Rehoboth Beach.

The most disappointing sushi dinner and experience at Rehoboth Beach ever.
When we arrived we were told that we absolutely needed to vacate our table before 7:30 , because a reservation was coming in to take our table. WOW, we've never been told to get out of a restaurant because someone else's reservation was more important than ours.
So, we really wanted to order happy appetizers. We were sternly told that only bar tables were aloud to order happy hour exclusive. Very disappointed we got a table, and we're told we need to finish diner and be finished and pay by 7:30 for their next table. WOW! We are customers also, been coming here for the last several years.. Nope, Not any more. This restaurant had so many open tables, inside, as well outside. We are appalled.
Our sushi rolls were even the size of happy hour apps., yet at a regular table charged full price. Very disappointed. Also my noodles tasted rotten, not fermented, just gross. Our server never really asked. It was a slow night. I know, because I've worked so many restaurants across this great country of ours. This place now falls upon the percent of unsafe places to eat.
Folks, this place has fallen off the deep end and now has cheaper ingredients as well poor service.
There are so many more sushi restaurants that truly deserve our services.
Extremely recommend not this black pearl place. Go somewhere that has fresher raw fish, better customer service and cares for their clients.
Even the portions of sushi were very small. I wonder if the servers are jipping the clients with happy hour sizes and chargingfull price. Very disappointed and after years of coming here....never again.
