Surf Inn Suites

Stayed here for the first time in September 2024 after the previous motel I started in raised their rates almost double. I arrived slightly after 4. Check in was smooth. The biggest complaint I saw was the rooms were dated. Yes, the decor was a little dated but otherwise the room was clean. I had a full size fridge, stove top, sofa, two full beds among the normal amenities. The bathroom wasn't too big but just big enough. Check out was quick and easy. Over all, good location in the middle of town, decent room that was clean but dated. My only complaint was being on the third floor but I got a better rate for a third floor room. When I book my trip for next year I'll be checking the Surf's Inn first.

This was our second year staying at location. Room was not clean and had food on floor from previous occupant. We had a ceiling leak in the bathroom within the first few hours upon arrival. This was due to flooding from drunk partying above us. The gentleman at the front counter was helpful and took care of the issue but we were not offered any compensation or another room. The room has had no significant updates rendered to it since we last checked in a year ago, which is sort of surprising given it’s over 200 per night to stay here. The carpet is thick, musty, and definitely soaks up the humidity/sea water constantly feels wet. I just kept my flops on to forget about it. The service was inconsistent and they seemed hesitant to supply an over abundance of towels.

Overall the service could’ve been better on the cleaning and supply end. The room should’ve been cleaner. Updates should be done to locations such as these more often so a little disappointing on that front that not one difference was to be seen since our last visit. If I could make a major recommendation to improve it would be to at least get rid of the carpets it is downright weird to have that at a beach location or at least replace it with a low ply carpet. The only good thing I would say about the place in all fairness was that we were close to the beach. The staff while seemingly non present most of the time or unavailable were nice and it was easy to hop on/off the ocean avenue.

I think it’s a great place if you’re staying long term and don’t want to spend too much money. The rooms are old and a little dingy. We stayed for the night and everything was fine, the floor has a lot of give, a few of our towels were dirty and so were some of the pillow cases. It seemed like they cleaned just enough. The great part was that we were really close to the beach and close to the grocery store and other things. Would I stay again last minute yes, if I planned it out would that be my first choice no.
