We finally decided to try Playbook Sports Bar inside Ocean Downs and honestly had such a great experience overall. One of the highlights right away was being able to grab a window seat overlooking the racetrack. Watching the horses practice before the races while eating was such a cool and unique touch that really added to the whole atmosphere.

We started with the steamed shrimp and WOW the flavor was incredible. The seasoning reminded us of a mix between Old Bay and Cajun seasoning, but with tons of rich melted butter worked into it that made every single bite so flavorful. The onions soaked up all of that buttery seasoning too and honestly became just as delicious as the shrimp themselves. The shrimp did come with cocktail sauce, but truthfully they didn’t even need it. We found ourselves peeling the shrimp and dipping them right back into that buttery seasoned sauce at the bottom of the bowl because it was THAT good. My only complaint would be that the shrimp themselves were slightly overcooked, but thankfully the flavor completely carried the dish. If they were cooked just a touch less, they would’ve been an absolute home run.

We also ordered the buffalo wings and these were another solid choice. They weren’t super crispy, but they were loaded with sauce and the buffalo flavor itself was delicious. Tangy, buttery, flavorful, and very messy in the best possible way.

The service here was fantastic too. Our waitress stayed on top of drink refills the whole meal, checked in often without hovering, and even brought extra napkins knowing how messy the shrimp and wings were going to get. Those small thoughtful touches really stand out and made the experience even better.

Overall, we absolutely loved our visit. It’s refreshing to have a genuinely good food option not only inside the casino, but also directly at the racetrack. Between the beautiful view, attentive service, flavorful food, and fun atmosphere, we’d absolutely come back again.

We had delicious food and amazing service here this afternoon. Our server was super sweet and on top of her game. We had the MD crab dip appetizer, crab cake sandwitch and teriyaki bowl for our meals. Everything was delicious, hot and served timely.

If you ever wondered what it’s like to dine in Poseidon’s personal seafood paradise, look no further than Poseidon’s Pub. I kicked things off with the Signature Crab Dip, a molten masterpiece of cheesy, crabby goodness that had me questioning whether I should just abandon utensils altogether and dive in face-first. The Buffalo Shrimp followed, crispy and coated in just the right amount of fiery sauce—spicy enough to wake up my taste buds but not so intense that I needed a support group. And then came the Lobster Mac and Cheese, a dish so rich and decadent that I briefly considered writing it into my will. Of course, no visit would be complete without the House Crab Cakes, which were all crab, no filler, and so perfectly golden brown that I wondered if they had been blessed by the seafood gods themselves. I washed everything down with an Old Bay Bloody Mary, because what’s better than sipping on a spicy, briny cocktail. Our server was excellent and very attentive, already planning my return. Poseidon himself would be proud.
