Poplar Hill Mansion was built as the manor house of a farm outside the small eighteenth century town of Salisbury. The mansion is said to be haunted. The mansion's ghost derives from the Huston period. According to local legend, a slave girl named Sara "19 years old, unmarried, and without child" perished in flames wearing a long, full skirt in the second floor rear bedroom, the nursery. Scorch marks may still be found on the wood floor surrounding the fireplace.

This is a beautiful old mansion with a very interesting story. Much of the home has been restored to its original condition. The docent was extremely knowledgeable, not just about the home itself, but about the people who lived there, and the history of the city and region. There is no charge for the tour, but donations are welcomed.

Nice place from the early 19 century. They do have antiques and it is big. It just like a normal house with a back yard. The workers I think do tours. I didn't see no ghost
