Poplar Hill Mansion was built as the manor house of a farm outside the small eighteenth century town of Salisbury.  The mansion is said to be haunted.  The mansion's ghost derives from the Huston period. According to local legend, a slave girl named Sara "19 years old, unmarried, and without child" perished in flames wearing a long, full skirt in the second floor rear bedroom, the nursery. Scorch marks may still be found on the wood floor surrounding the fireplace.

Poplar Hill Mansion!!!
I'm so glad that I followed my intuition and took a Friday afternoon tour of the Poplar Hill Mansion with Sarah Meyers in Salisbury, Maryland. I have been on numerous historical and museum tours; this is among the best! Sarah 's background as a history scholar combined with her excellent skills in storytelling made this tour very informative and very interesting. Be sure to ask her about her research into the WWII German POW camps located in the Delmarva area.

A wonderful piece of Salisbury history. The staff member on site is so knowledgeable and helpful. Beautiful grounds, well kept. The inside is gorgeous! Definitely worth a visit - and they host a ton of events. Even parties and weddings!

Went there with a friend for tea and lunch. OMG! Wonderful. Got a little tour of the mansion. The food is amazing. This helps keep up the mansion, so go. You won't be disappointed.
