HUGE KUDOS to all the lifeguards on 123rd today - they literally saved a man’s life. He had collapsed on the beach coming out of the water - seems he had extremely high blood sugar (from what we heard he was unaware of it) and he went into cardiac arrest and was unconscious. The family yelled for help & everyone reacted calling for lifeguards, any medical personnel on the beach, calling 911 — many lifeguards worked on him giving CPR compressions - they brought the AED and shocked him back. These lifeguards knew EXACTLY what to do and responded SO quickly. The man had stopped breathing and they worked & worked on him until they brought him back. They all can be VERY PROUD of what they did today and I’m sure the family can’t thank them enough.

Not impressive today when a long section of beach at 101 St was closed for so called young surfers even if waves are a insult for the surfing world.
A lot of beach goers on the crowded beach had to make amends for 5 surfers that sat on their surfboards for almost all their time in the water.
The life guard watch has incessantly stopped people just crossing one step in the surf area although surfers were hundreds of feet away.
Worst comes as the surfers take a break the young lady life guard or watch talking to these young boys for ever seemed a little odd. Almost too friendly I would say. But that’s not me to judge. Maybe some parents get the gist of it.
I thought life guards should watching the water and vigilant for swimming dangers.
Calling the Beach Guard Super, told me that girl is not a life guard but a watch and I should not be worried about her job activities.
Looks like people life’s are in some good hands but not all with the best intentions.
Poor beach experience. Maryland never here again.

Last month while enjoying the beach with my family, an incident occurred involving my 11 year old daughter in which things turned scary VERY fast. The lifeguard at the 25th Street station immediately ran into the water to help my daughter with no hesitation. She acted BEFORE the situation became too critical and she should absolutely be commended for her dedication and impeccable judgment. I believe her name was Emma - and I could never thank her enough.

Many of the lifeguards are young students and I don't think they always get the respect and appreciation they deserve. It is important that they be recognized for their dedication and effort. Thank you OCBP and thank you Emma♥
