Fantastic hotel, situated about a 10 min drive to the Ocean City boardwalk and beach. The hotel is dog friendly, which was great for us as we had our Golden Labrador with us. The rooms are lovely and clean. The breakfast has a great selection of dishes for everyone. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We recommend this hotel.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites West Ocean City, an IHG Hotel

Not sure what happened to this place. I’ve stayed here multiple times over the last 5 years and always enjoyed my stay, but this place has experienced a steep decline. The first room we were booked smelled of sewage, and had a rug with holes in it. I immediately told my wife we’re not staying here. Fortunately the staff were receptive and gave us a new room.
Our second room was much better, but only in comparison. Another hole in the rug. Cracked, peeling bathroom sink. Dusty ice bucket. Streaked shower doors. Broken rolling chair that doesn’t go up, down, or tilt lock. Grimy, nasty feeling door deadbolt. Stains in the carpet. Dust in the vents of the AC. Uncomfortable, cheap vinyl cushion on chair, for the incontinent among us, I suppose.
Not to mention the 50 or so polo-shirted khaki-shorted high school Boys Whatever Team for whom the hotel for some reason saw necessary to rope off half of the parking lot for their silly little tour bus, inconveniencing the adults in the facility.
This place used to be nice. It no longer is. For being less than 20 years old, this place is a bit of a mess. The staff are nice and helpful, but the facility needs serious work. Stay at the Hampton up the block, instead.

5/5 – Cozy, Friendly, and the Best Hotel Coffee I’ve Ever Had
Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Oceanside America, and let me just say—it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The breakfast alone deserves its own shoutout: egg whites, biscuits and gravy, pancakes—10 out of 10. And the coffee? Probably the best I’ve ever had. That alone is why I keep choosing Holiday Inn Express.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. I got a little turned around trying to find the ice machine, wandered down to the lobby, and the front desk staff instantly knew what I needed. She kindly let me know it was on the third floor, right by the elevator—super helpful, super efficient.
Only tiny downside: the scrambled eggs. Even with salt and pepper (and cheese, which I appreciated!), they just didn’t have much flavor and I couldn’t finish them. Not a dealbreaker at all, but I’d love to see another egg option in the future, just in case. Still, that’s my only real complaint.
Bonus points for the little lobby shop—candy and snacks were actually reasonably priced, which is rare and appreciated. The hotel’s location was great too: just minutes from the boardwalk, with a nice, private vibe. The parking area was clean and easy to navigate, with cute little trees around each spot that made it feel cozy and tucked away.
And if you're heading to Assateague Island to see the wild horses, it’s only about a 14-minute drive. Perfect base for a short getaway.
All in all, couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend!
