The hotel itself is a good value. The staff, every single person is polite that works here. The rooms are are dated. It’s a three star hotel. I would stay here again except the parking lot is too small and cars are almost touching each other side-by-side. That’s the bigger downfall. We had two rooms, one had decent bed. The other one had a sponge for bed. Overall, good experience, you could save money by staying here, but I don’t know if it’s worth it.

Wonderful hotel for our visit. It's clean with on-site parking for guests. Be cautioned it is a very tight squeeze parking lot space. We had a small terrace that was fun to sit on and relax. Plus, it's a bonus of being a short walking distance from the beach without having the on the beach price. It is a great price for being this close to the beach. I felt it was quiet for having been so close to the crowds of people. We preferred to stay here this trip and if we return we may stay for longer than one night.

Gateway Hotel is extremely convenient if you are looking to stay near the boardwalk/beach. Being on the corner of Baltimore Ave & 1st street, it's also immediately off Rt 50 and just a couple minutes' drive after crossing the bridge. Parking is free, and there is a lot within walking distance including a liquor store, 7-Eleven, and plenty of restaurants. Note that there is no light/signal when crossing Baltimore Ave immediately across from the hotel, so it can be a pain waiting for traffic to calm.
Despite the classic beach town look on the hotel's exterior, the interior is very up to date. IOur rooms were spotless and the staff were friendly and helpful when we did need assistance. I appreciated the view of the inlet from the top floor balcony. They do not have breakfast, but do have coffee and vending machines available in the lobby.
