The inspiration for our name Burley Oak Brewing Company was derived from the name of the town, our traditional brewing methods and the history of our brew house.
The town of Berlin had its start around the 1790s, part of the Burley Plantation, a 300-acre (1.2 km2) land grant dating back to 1677. The name Berlin is believed to be derived from a contraction of "Burleigh Inn", a tavern located at the crossroads of the Philadelphia Post Road (now South Main Street) and Sinepuxent Road (Tripoli Street).
It just so happens, that our building was originally a Cooperage - making oak barrels to fill with local produce and seafood to ship off to Baltimore in the early 1900's. And we are bringing barrels back to the building, aiding us in the aging of our hand-crafted ales.

Fantastic brewery if you want to drink beer... Numerous IPAs and sours. Design your own flight, up to six glasses. Bring your own food, or walk across the street to Burn, a Wood-Fired pizza joint. (Rating would have been five stars if there was some sort of pub grub)This is a live music venue. But when we were there with the canned house music, it was a great playlist. Off-Season is a great time/place to meet friendly locals. Very pet friendly.

We went to Burley Oak on a Friday night. The bar staff was super friendly and quick. There was acoustic music in the taproom that was good but maybe a bit too loud but not terrible. They have a nice stage outside so I imagine the bands outside would be pretty good. We got a flight of beers and Rude Boy was my favorite. I was with a wine drinker so she appreciated that they served wine. Good location 3 minutes from downtown Berlin.

Last time I was here was in 2013. I used to come here with my dad while on vacation. I never have been much of an alcohol person, and I don’t drink often. But the non-alcoholic root beer soda they brew here is amazing. Probably one of the best I’ve had in my whole life. They had friendly service, and great music and atmosphere.
