While at Bayside, explore the private waterway by kayak or canoe since its calmer water makes it easier for paddlers to get around. Bicycle rentals are also available at Bayside, and you can bring fishing supplies because visitors are allowed to fish in the recreation area.

(late July- early August 2025) Came from central New York, a bit of a drive 😮💨 but well worth it! We went to ocean city & stumbled upon @Assateague seashore Island State Park & it was the best part of the trip. I wish I had known they had camping before we came & rented a hotel in ocean city. So peaceful and warm on the beach all day. The tides were fierce, but it was so clean, air crisp, clean, so many free horses, bird species, crabs and wetland conservation & restoration trails, a MUST SEE!

This was a very nice place to camp close to the beach. We camped in both loop B (generators allowed) and loop C (no generators) during our stay. It is a great place to bike ride as well. We loved seeing the horses pretty much everywhere we went. We didn’t see many the first day but did for the next several days. It is sporadic where you will see them. My only complaint is there are a lot of stickers and horse poop everywhere. I realize it is natural but I just wanted to mention it.

Assateague Island National Seashore is a beautiful place to camp, hike, bike and swim in the Atlantic Ocean. The sand dunes are really nice and the best thing about here is the wild horses that roam and walk everywhere here. Camped here with my kids and grandkids. Definitely will be coming back here again.
