The Salisbury Zoological Park is committed to enhancing our quality of life by providing a friendly, relaxing environment where educational and recreational opportunities come together through participation and interaction. With its animals, staff, volunteers, and park-like setting, the zoo encourages an appreciation of wildlife and inspires conservation of our natural world.

The Salisbury Zoo, located in Salisbury, Maryland, was founded in 1954 when some animals were placed on permanent exhibition in the City Park. The Zoo’s present form resulted from improvements made in the 1970s. The Zoo now provides naturalistic enclosures for species native to North, Central and South America. The Salisbury Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums. The Zoo’s policy is maintained by the Salisbury Zoo Commission, Inc. whose nine members are appointed by the Salisbury City Council. The Zoo is funded in-part by the Salisbury Zoo Commission and by the City of Salisbury.

Perfectly refreshing place to get away from daily life. The animals charmed us. We saw a black bear turning his water trough upside down. This zoo is so accessible with a stroller and enjoyable for all.

Very nice free zoo. A few exhibits were closed but overall it was a great experience. Easy to get to and parking was available on a Saturday afternoon. Would recommend for younger children as it's not long distances to walk and most of the animals are fairly close up so easy to spot them.

We were delighted to explore this zoo on a trip through Maryland. The park is well maintained, sustainably landscaped and free to visit. Donations are accepted at the entrance. The animals were actively exploring their environments, even on a sunny summer day. We appreciated the interpretive signage around the park to learn more about the animals. The alpacas, emus and bears were our favorites. There is free parking at the zoo and full restrooms. They are constructing some new habitats. We look forward to visiting again.
