The Salisbury Zoological Park is committed to enhancing our quality of life by providing a friendly, relaxing environment where educational and recreational opportunities come together through participation and interaction. With its animals, staff, volunteers, and park-like setting, the zoo encourages an appreciation of wildlife and inspires conservation of our natural world.
The Salisbury Zoo, located in Salisbury, Maryland, was founded in 1954 when some animals were placed on permanent exhibition in the City Park. The Zoo’s present form resulted from improvements made in the 1970s. The Zoo now provides naturalistic enclosures for species native to North, Central and South America. The Salisbury Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums. The Zoo’s policy is maintained by the Salisbury Zoo Commission, Inc. whose nine members are appointed by the Salisbury City Council. The Zoo is funded in-part by the Salisbury Zoo Commission and by the City of Salisbury.

Salisbury Zoological Park
Salisbury Zoological Park is such a gem.
It’s completely free to visit (which is amazing), though they do accept donations—and honestly, they deserve every bit of support. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to chat and share info about the animals. The grounds are clean, well maintained, and you can really see the care that goes into every enclosure. Over the years, the park has continued to grow and improve, and it’s clear they prioritize the well-being of their animals. Whether you’re local or just passing through, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

Free to visit park that takes donations to help animals. Visited in Aug. with two kids 5-4 and both had a great time! The zoo isn’t a huge one and doesn’t have the best of everything but had a decent amount of enclosures with signs posted of more animals coming and the size made it easily walkable with the youngins. If in the area we believed it to be a nice FREE thing to do for a couple hours and enjoy time outside with the family

Took my kids (7&9) over Spring break from Lewes, DE. They had a great time! A great variety of animals and took us about 90 minutes to walk throughout the park. The park was clean and well kept! Will definitely be back in the fall! 🐒🦅🦙🐻🦩
