The Salisbury Zoological Park is committed to enhancing our quality of life by providing a friendly, relaxing environment where educational and recreational opportunities come together through participation and interaction. With its animals, staff, volunteers, and park-like setting, the zoo encourages an appreciation of wildlife and inspires conservation of our natural world.
The Salisbury Zoo, located in Salisbury, Maryland, was founded in 1954 when some animals were placed on permanent exhibition in the City Park. The Zoo’s present form resulted from improvements made in the 1970s. The Zoo now provides naturalistic enclosures for species native to North, Central and South America. The Salisbury Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums. The Zoo’s policy is maintained by the Salisbury Zoo Commission, Inc. whose nine members are appointed by the Salisbury City Council. The Zoo is funded in-part by the Salisbury Zoo Commission and by the City of Salisbury.

Salisbury Zoological Park
This free zoo operated by the Department of Natural Resources is located in a really nice park and makes for a great stop. Parking is a bit spread out, with spots near each entrance as well as additional areas around the park.
Overall, it’s a great zoo considering it’s free. There’s a nice variety of animals, though some of the enclosures have limited or slightly obstructed viewing areas.
There’s also a small gift shop with mostly kids’ items, along with restrooms and a place to grab snacks.
All in all, it’s definitely worth visiting—especially for a free attraction.

This is a great little zoo! It's so much bigger than I expected though! Be advised that there is limited parking on the East end. There are 2 pressed penny machines: 1 in the gift shop and 1 in the green shed with the vending machines at the East end. They have an axolotl which I was totally not expecting! There's plenty of benches scattered throughout the zoo. I also loved the elevated walkway through the bison, rhea, prairie dogs, bald eagles, and peccary (a type of wild pig) exhibits! There's decent foliage everywhere so it's easy to walk in mostly shade. Overall, definitely recommend a visit here!! Be advised though, the gift shop is only open on weekends!
