Tips on Getting Around Town

Tips on Getting Around Town

Once you get to town, park your car and don’t move it again throughout your stay! There’s no need to be driving up and down Coastal Highway or dealing with any traffic during your vacation while there are so many forms of transportation to take advantage of!

With the summer season approaching quickly, here are a few tips for getting around town.

Download Apps

If you don’t have cash or exact change for the $3 bus pass, make sure to download the EMoney app for your smartphone. Also, it’s now even easier to plan your trip on the bus with the town’s new bus locator. You can download the Transloc Rider app to your phone, and see real-time locations of the buses and get an estimated arrival time for your specific stop.

Utilize Your $3

With your $3 pass, you can also get on a Park & Ride bus that will take you to West Ocean City for no additional cost! During the off-season, transportation to the Ocean City Outlets in West OC are provided by Shore Transit.

Bike

So many people bicycle throughout town that they have their own lane along Coastal Highway (to share with the bus). You must follow the same traffic laws as motorists, but lots of tourists and locals prefer to ride their bikes to get around town!

“Avoid the fuss, take the bus”

Ever heard that saying? In Ocean City, it’s some of the best advice you will ever hear. For only $3 a day, you can get on and off the bus at any and every stop, and take it from one end of town to the other as many times as you want. During peak season, the bus runs 24/7. Throughout the other seasons, it runs on a set schedule that you can find online or at most bus stops.

Give Your Feet a Break

If you’re staying downtown this summer, or anywhere near the boardwalk, you may want to consider the Boardwalk Tram. After a long day in the sun of walking, shopping and playing in the sand, sometimes you won’t want to walk back up (or down) the boardwalk to where you came from. The Boardwalk tram runs from 27th St. to the Inlet, making routine stops along the way. It costs $3 per person per ride.

Taxi, Taxi!

It’s not like New York City or Washington D.C. when you call a taxi in Ocean City. There are numerous services in town, but one of our favorites is Taxi Taxi! Call (410)289-8989 at any time of the day or night, any day of the year for door-to-door service.

With all of these convenient transportation options, you and your loved ones should have no problem getting around in town! Hit some of the greatest restaurants in town on the water, drink up (responsibly, of course) and please remember--buzzed driving is drunk driving. Safety first!
