Cheers to a New Year

Cheers to a New Year

The New Year is fast approaching and we couldn’t be more excited here at exploreOC! It’s the time where we reflect back on 2017 to evaluate both our setbacks and achievements. The New Year, for many people, brings a host of different opportunities to take advantage of.  It also evokes the sense of having a clean slate to work from.  For both of these reasons, New Year’s Eve makes for a magical experience that should be shared in the company of friends and family. That’s why we are giving you the top ways to ring in your New Year with a plethora of events happening in the area.

First on our list is Seacrets Jamaica of course. Their New Year’s Eve Bash is always the talk of the town. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will go until 4 a.m., but of course guest may leave at their convenience. Their 3-course dinner which conveniently has 5 different seating times will include a salad, 1 appetizer of choice, and one entrée of choice. The area’s best bands and DJ’s will be performing live all night before, during, as well as after the balloon drop and complimentary champagne toast at midnight. For more information on times, bands, reservations, and more.

Fager's Island is doing something similar as well by providing live entertainment, plenty of party favors, a chance to win a 2018 VIP card, and a Champaign toast to top it all off at midnight. However, they have just three seating times for dinner which extend until 10:30 p.m. after that no seating will be available. Dress for the evening is Fashionable attire to which they would like all their guests to dress to impress as the paparazzi will be taking many pictures throughout the evening.  Seating times are priced differently and offer different accommodations for each. If you are not planning to dine with Fagers, normal ticket holders will be admitted after 7 p.m. For more information on the Fager’s Island Countdown to New Year’s event please visit http://www.fagers.com/events/new-years-eve/.

Or if a more modern and contemporary atmosphere is what you crave for your New Year celebration then head to the Skye Bar on 66th street. Their two-story New Year’s Eve Celebration will be held from 5 p.n. to 2 a.m. and will feature live entertainment by Monkee Paw.  Guests will sip creative cocktails, dine on fresh seafood and take in the views of the ocean, bay and everything in between. Skye Bar’s full dinner menu will be available however, space is limited so it is encouraged that you call to reserve your spot today at (410) 723-6762.

If you are the type of person who wants to celebrate but not into the wee hours of the morning then Longboard Café is another great place to bring in the New Year. They will be hosting their 4th Annual “It’s 12 O’clock Somewhere” New Year’s Eve Party featuring live entertainment by Dave Hawkins. The countdown will begin at 10 p.m. and tickets are $65 a person. This includes heavy hors d’oeurves all evening long, reduced drink prices, several party favors, and a champagne toast to top it all off.

For those of you who are more spur of the moment and don’t want to make any official commitments, Harpoon Hannah’s is the place for you. They are offering guests a “No Hassle New Year’s Eve with no cover fee, no necessary reservations, and no packages to purchase.  There will be live entertainment performed by Dave Sherman from 5 to 9 p.m. then afterward DJ Jon Boi will take the floor. Harpoon Hannah’s full menu will also be available to guests throughout the event to which guests may order at their leisure.

The list doesn’t end there either! The Town of Ocean City will be hosting a New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show at Northside Park to celebrate the start of 2018 and the 25th Annual Winterfest of Lights. The display will begin at midnight and will be accompanied with live entertainment, warm hot cocoa, and another opportunity to ride through the Winterfest of Lights which was recently named a prestigious Top 100 Event by American Bus Association and voted “Mayland’s finest Holiday Tradition” by Maryland Life Magazine. This is a great and free way to ring in the New Year especially if you want to bring the little ones along.

In Ocean City, we are so lucky to have some many awesome and unique venues that offer such fun ways to spend the holidays. Every year deserves a great start so plan yours now so that you can ring in 2018 in a very special way. Remember, it’s not the years in life but the life in years that matters most. So may your new year be full of prosperity and your best one yet. From all of us at exploreOC, have a Happy and very safe New Year’s Eve!
