3rd Annual Ocean City Film Festival

3rd Annual Ocean City Film Festival

Mark your calendars for the return of the Ocean City Film Festival on March 8-10! The 2018 event featured more than 100 films over three days at the Princess Royale Hotel, Clarion Resort Hotel, and Fox Gold Coast Theater.

Last year’s all access passes for $50 included unlimited movie access, opening night filmmaker party, all workshops, award ceremony, and more!

Hosted by the Art League of Ocean City, this annual event aims to showcase both local films and artists, as well as filmmakers from throughout the world. The event was founded in 2017 by local filmmaker William Strang-Moya, a 2013 graduate of Stephen Decatur High School.

This year’s 2019 OC Film Festival is expected to be the largest yet.

Every third Saturday of each month leading up to the festival is $5 Film Night at the Ocean City Center for the Arts! For a $5 donation, you can benefit the Ocean ity Film Festival and the Art League of Ocean City while enjoying film screenings from local artists.

December’s $5 Film Night featured screenings of Rob Waters’ short films. Doors opened at 6:30pm, films were shown at 1pm, and the screenings were followed by a workshop led by the director.

Be on the lookout for the next two $5 Film Nights! On January 19, head to the Art League of Ocean City for the screenings of two of Rudy Childs’ films: Heavy Metal Picnic and Tension. Doors open at 5pm, and showings begin at 5:30pm. February 16 will be the 2019 Film Festival Preview Night! The Art League will be showing select short films that have been accepted into the 2019 Film Festival, giving you a sneak preview of what is to come the following month. Doors open at 6:30pm, and films will begin playing at 7pm (this is one you won’t want to miss!)

All submissions have been sent into the Film Festival for review. Filmmakers will be notified by January 11, 2019 if their work is to be featured in the festival!

Awards and Prizes will be as follows:

The Pink Flamingo: The Pink Flamingo Film Award goes out to the film that is most uniquely reflective of Maryland life. The People's Film: The People's Film Award is the audience choice award- polls in person. The Damn Fine Film: The Damn Fine Film Award is the judge's choice award. A "Best of" award to each respective category.

Awards will be announced at our closing reception, during which the award winners will receive a charming gift basket, courtesy of our sponsors, and an award laurel via e-mail.
