Empty Bowl Project at the Art League of OC

Test out your artistic skills and help end hunger all at the same time! The Art League of Ocean City will hold what is called the Empty Bowl Project in the facility’s pottery studio on the following dates:

August 24

September 4

September 25

January 8

January 23

February 4

February 17

Join the Empty Bowl Project by making your own bowl for a $25 donation. The Art League of Ocean City’s volunteers will walk you through each step of the process! Once you have a smooth surface of clay to work with, you can choose from their various stamps and prints to design your bowl however you’d like! From ocean-themes to lace to letters, they have something for everyone.

Once you’ve crafted the bowl, they will take your name and color preference. Within the next two to three weeks, they will fire the bowls in the kiln and let you know when they’re ready for pickup!

Along with this exciting bowl making craft, the Art League of Ocean City will host a Soup Dinner on March 29, 2019 as the second portion of the Empty Bowl Project. You can enjoy soup, bread and desserts all donated by local restaurants.

This event exemplifies the Art League’s mission and vision statements. Their mission is to promote the visual arts in the Ocean City area through education, exhibits, scholarships, programs, and community art events. Their vision is to be a vibrant, fiscally sound arts organization with community sponsorship and service and valued membership benefits, offered in a spacious and functional facility. With a strong group of volunteers, and events such as the Empty Bowl Project, the Art League does just that.

Proceeds from the Empty Bowl Project benefit the Art League of Ocean City and Diakonia.
