Celebrate Christmas in July

Celebrate Christmas in July

July 25th this year in Ocean City is not just another average Wednesday... there are numerous events and happenings in town to celebrate Christmas in July!

To kick off the Christmas spirit right, Jolly Roger Amusement Park is welcoming the local Marine Corps Reserve chapter of Toys For Tots to the park from 10 am to 3 pm. They are very proud of their new partnership with the local donation center, and are excited to collect new, unwrapped toys for the foundation at the front of the park. The event officially kicks off at 10 am with the Pocomoke High School ROTC flag raising ceremony. Be on the lookout for Santa; we heard a rumor he may be in town!

Along with the gift of giving and all of the good feelings that come with it, Jolly Roger is throwing in a little something extra. When you drop off a toy, you will receive a 20% voucher for your ticket purchase! Only available that day, but good for any of the amusement parks.

No breakfast plans on Christmas (in July)? From 9-11am, the Original Greene Turtle will host a breakfast buffet with Santa for only $10 per person, and kids 12 and under eat for free! Every child will have the opportunity to visit with Santa, receiving a gift and a keepsake photo. Proceeds will go to Believe In Tomorrow Children's House by the Sea, an organization in town that houses critically ill children and their families.

Head over to Fish Tales for lunch on 21st St. to welcome the big man in red as he rides in by jet ski carrying gifts for kids. We’re all celebrating the holiday a little early this year, so bring your presents to donate to Toys For Tots! From 11 am to 5 pm, Fish Tales is accepting unwrapped toys and gifts.

To bring your night to a close, the bay will illuminate with seasonal decor! Atlantic General Hospital Foundation is hosting the Christmas in July Boat Parade. Watch the fleet of boats decked out in lights, garland and holiday ornaments glide along the bay waters from 8:45-10:45 pm. This creates a beautiful scene as the sun finishes setting and the sky goes dark.

The boats will leave out of 28th St., head north toward the Rt. 90 Bridge, and then turn back around and return to 28th St. Parading together as a fleet, you’ll be able to see who has the best decorations!

Registration for each boat is $50. Money raised will benefit both Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Foundation and Atlantic General Campaign for the Future. For more information on registration, contact Mark Dembeck at mark.dembeck@yahoo.com.

So dig for those Santa hats and break out the colorful string lights - it’s time to celebrate Christmas in July!
